We chose the local community of Agora in the Drama region as the headquarters for Lazaridi Winery – CHÂTEAU NICO LAZARIDI to establish our pioneering, state-of-the-art winery.
The location was not chosen at random, as we took into account all the necessary factors to ensure that grape processing happens at the shortest possible distance from the harvest site. This allows our team to craft exceptional wines, which are then stored under ideal conditions before reaching the consumer.
The winery, with its distinctive architecture, is built within the central vineyard and harmoniously integrated into the natural landscape, offering panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards from all sides. It is fully equipped with modern facilities to produce high-quality wines.
The CHÂTEAU NICO LAZARIDI Winery covers approximately 6,500 sq.m. and forms a unified complex that includes vinification, production, and bottling areas, storage facilities, underground cellars for wine aging, offices, tasting and seminar spaces, as well as the “Magic Mountain” art gallery. Visitors can admire over 100 paintings and sculptures, fostering an ongoing dialogue between wine and visual arts.
The winery’s architectural design, created by Drama-based architect Yiannis Matsinis, resembles a “swallow’s tail”. It features an inner courtyard, a traditional element of enclosed rural estates, allowing both visitors and staff to stay visually connected with the surrounding environment.
The architect also ensured the winery blends seamlessly with the region’s terrain, extending the horizon’s line. From the observation tower, visitors enjoy a panoramic view of the vineyards and the broader area.
The most renowned brand under NICO LAZARIDI is its namesake wine, Château Nico Lazaridi, available in white, rosé, and red. The winery’s portfolio also includes the Magic Mountain and Perpetuus lines, which are specialized aged wines. The newer Cavalieri Lazaridi series features single-varietal wines: Assyrtiko, Malagousia, Xinomavro, and Merlot.
Additionally, the company produces Evil Eye Rosé, Melissourgos (a naturally sweet wine from sun-dried grapes), and the dry sparkling wines Solitaire White and Solitaire Rosé.
At Château Nico Lazaridi Winery in Agora, the selected grape varieties cultivated yield wines bearing the PGI Drama and PGI Agora designations.
