Limnos was renowned in antiquity for the exceptional quality of its fine wines, as even Aristotle himself noted.
Thousands of years later, the parallel journey of four generations of the Chatzigeorgiou family continues this legacy—blending tradition, quality, and the art of timeless craftsmanship. The family-owned winery is based in Karpasi, in the municipality of Limnos. With full oversight of vineyard cultivation, the estate exclusively vinifies, ages, and bottles high-quality wines on-site.
This is a blessed land—one that, according to archaeological findings, inspired viticulture as far back as the Neolithic era.
It is no coincidence that in ancient times, Limnos—then known as “Limnia Gi”—was one of the most important centers of Dionysian worship.
The island’s vineyards are rooted in sandy, volcanic soils, at low altitudes reaching up to 260 meters. Two indigenous grape varieties are cultivated: Muscat of Alexandria and Limnio.
With many privately owned vineyards and a steadily growing network of partner growers, the winery has achieved a substantial annual production, now expressed in ten distinct wine labels, distributed throughout Greece and abroad.
The winery operates out of a modern, 1,800-square-meter facility set on a 15,000-square-meter estate. With underground cellars and a tasting room open to visitors, it welcomes hundreds of wine lovers and tourists throughout the year to experience its fine wines.
The family’s dedication has been widely recognized, with numerous awards at prestigious wine competitions and high ratings in wine reviews across Europe.
These distinctions only deepen the Chatzigeorgiou family’s passion and creativity. As worthy successors of the generations before them, they remain committed to preserving the quality of the Limnos vineyard while creating new wines. Their vision: to elevate the local varieties—and the wines of Limnos—to international acclaim.
