Durakis Winery was founded in 1988 by Mr. Andreas Durakis, with a vision to promote the Cretan vineyard and local grape varieties. It is located in the Chania Prefecture, specifically in the village of Alikampos, and combines tradition with modern winemaking. With respect for the vine and a focus on quality, it creates wines that authentically express the character of Crete. Through tastings, visitors learn about the winery’s history, its wines, and enjoy a warm, authentic hospitality experience.

We stopped at Dourakis Winery on our drive from Chania to Rethymno, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.
Despite not having a reservation, we received a warm welcome and the staff were able to accommodate the two of us. We enjoyed the wine flight tasting, which featured a wonderful selection of wines and it did not disappoint.
The real highlight came when our host, Despina, generously offered us an unexpected tour of the wine cellar. She took the time to explain the winemaking process in great detail, sharing her knowledge and enthusiastically answering all of our questions.
Having participated in several winery tours over the years, I found this experience particularly unique. The winemaking techniques and traditions used here differ from many other wineries, making the tour both fascinating and educational.
I highly recommend adding Dourakis Winery to your itinerary when visiting Crete. The experience was not only delicious but also informative, authentic, and memorable. Thank you, Despina and staff, for making our visit so special!

Mixed experience. We had the full wine tasting. It was done in sequential servings instead of the typical set / flight which made the comparison between the wines a bit more complicated. The space is very nice and nature like so it's a comfortable stay. The wines in themselves were nice, but not to our tasting. Would probably consider the space more of a restaurant/ meal experience versus a wine tasting.
