For an extraordinary adventure that combines breathtaking scenery, exceptional wines, and heartfelt hospitality, Gofas Winery is a must-visit. Recommended to us by new friends in Nafplio, this gem offers idyllic views and unique offerings that create a memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, Sofia, our gracious host, welcomed us warmly and encouraged us to explore the beautiful grounds, including a delightful stroll to the serene river on the estate. The insightful tour of the winery revealed the intricate processes of barreling and aging, including the ancient Greek technique of aging wine in clay pots, essential for producing their renowned orange wine. As we savored each sip during the tasting, we were captivated by the mythical tales of the Nemea region's grapes, including the story of Dionysus gifting the first vine to his son, the king of Nemea. The wines at Gofas are extraordinary, showcasing local terroir; we were irresistibly drawn to their selections and ensured to take as much as we could back to Australia. Gofas Winery is more than just a place to taste wine it's a journey through history, nature, and craftsmanship that promises an unforgettable escape.
