Christoforos Pavlidis established his namesake winery in 1998 with a vision to create world class fine wines that reflect their terroir. Ktima Pavlidis is nestled in the valley of Drama, a renowned wine region for producing some of the finest wines in Greece.
The vineyards were planted between 1998 and 2004. More precisely the winery is located in Kokkinogia, in the northwest part of Drama prefecture, about 19 km from Drama and 160 km from Thessaloniki.
We currently cultivate 65 hectares of vines, 20 ha are organically managed and 45 ha are managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture. KTIMA PAVLIDIS has both Greek indigenous and international varieties, 2010 was for the winery a significant turning point in indigenous varieties.
We believe that great wines must reflect their terroir, vintage and personality, in our case the terroir of Drama, a place well-known since Ancient Greece for winemaking. Our philosophy is a lot of effort in the vineyards to produce high quality grapes and minimum intervention in the winery (use of elevators for gravity flow, many lots are fermented with natural yeasts, etc). From pruning to harvest to final blends we follow our senses to create modern and balanced wines. At KTIMA PAVLIDIS we are very careful throughout all the steps following the harvest, which is performed during the night in low temperature… All our grapes are hand-picked, placed in refrigerator to reach 8-10°C and then submitted in a rigorous selection in two sorting tables by hand. All the above in our constant effort to preserve the elegance of a cool region, like Drama, into our wines!
Our range includes two families of wine:
THEMA, these are our flagship wines: THEMA red (Agiorgitiko, Syrah), THEMA white (Assyrtiko, Sauvignon blanc) and THEMA rosé (Tempranillo)
and
EMPHASIS, five exciting single-varietal and single-vineyard wines are released every year in a really limited quantity: EMPHASIS Assyrtiko, EMPHASIS Chardonnay, EMPHASIS Agiorgitiko, EMPHASIS Tempranillo and EMPHASIS Syrah.
Despite our relative young age in the market KTIMA PAVLIDIS is very popular in Greece and has a growing worldwide presence. Our current exporting countries are: United States, Canada (Quebec & Ontario), UK, China, Germany, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Romania, Singapore, Australia and Cyprus.
