The winery is situated within the Nemea zone, the largest and possibly the most exciting Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) for red wines in Greece. Mantinia, another important PDO region for white wines, is in close proximity, while the surrounding areas have excellent terroirs, although not of PDO status. Across all of these locations, Domaine Skouras owns a number of very interesting vineyards.

Of gold straw color with brilliant highlights. On the nose it is really complex and elegant, expressing the Viognier character beautifully. It reveals aromas of ripe peach, orange blossom, citrus rinds as well as tropical fruit. The oak’s characteristics –sweet vanilla and hazelnut– are superbly incorporated into the wine and compose a rich bouquet, while the smell of bread crust indicates the contact with the wine lees. On the mouth it is full-bodied with great texture and crisp acidity. Flavours are consistent with the aromas and the aftertaste is powerful and of such great complexity, it feels as though it will last forever.

Brilliant yellow with some gold hues. The Chardonnay variety is typically expressed along with the elegance of the high quality French oak. On the mouth it is rich and complex with a crisp acidity and flavours of citrus and tropical fruits coupled with vanilla and hints of coconut. The aftertaste is rich, powerful, complex and long.

The colour is very deep, a clear and transparent purple with ruby highlights. On the nose, it is intense, dense and fresh due to the vegetal aroma of the Cabernet Franc. Aromas are focused on the ripe fruit (red mulberries, red cherries and ripe strawberries) coupled with sweet aromas of chocolate, cinnamon, cedar and discreet barrique. On the mouth it is full, with rich extract, alcohol which balances the tense acidity and the ripe, dense tannins. Flavours are consistent with aromas, with the fruit ones being more predominant. The aftertaste has duration, volume and complexity.

In a foudre of 1,000 litres, sequent vintages of Megas Oenos mature together. In 2001, this foudre was filled for the first time with the final blend of Megas Oenos 1999. Since then, every year, and after the final blend of the latest Megas Oenos vintage comes on the market, a specific amount of the wine in the foudre is taken away and bottled and the barrique is filled with new Megas Oenos. The wine matures in the foudre until the next vintage of Megas Oenos –which itself matures in new French barriques for 18 months– is bottled.
Labyrinth matures for a further 12 months in bottle in our cellar before it gets released.

Situated among vineyards, the Domaine Skouras winery is an ultra-modern winemaking facility, with an elegant Greek architecture, designed to ensure:
– proper and thorough procedures of the highest standards in all aspects of wine production and bottling
– a first class experience for visitors seeking education, entertainment, initiation to wine or hospitality.
The state-of-the-art grape reception hall features the most modern presses with a crushing capacity of 800 tonnes. The winery equipment is world class, with about 80 temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for fermentation and other procedures.
The impressive one-thousand-barrel cellar has a constant temperature of +14°C and 70% humidity, where our wines are aged under ideal conditions. The high quality of our wines is ensured by time, patience, experience and multiple tasting trials.
The bottling line, with a capacity of 3,000 bottles per hour, is found in a separate, sunlit, hygienically controlled hall.
The three storerooms of bottled wine, with a constant temperature of +16°C and 60% humidity, guarantee the proper ageing of our wines.
Our laboratory is a crucial part of our winery, where experienced oenologists and agriculturalists not only control wines and vineyards, but also formulate experimental and research protocols. Our laboratory is one of the very few in Europe to collaborate with the laboratories of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO). LCBO is the State Monopoly of Ontario in Canada.
Finally, our winery has modern reception halls, lined with works of well-known artists, large verandas and a beautiful tasting room, which is also a contemporary bistro. Here, visitors are looked after by our trained personnel, who also speak many languages fluently.
